Educational Dance Programs in Libraries for Families and Children

Library Dance Program - Dances of Italy
The Gypsy Folk Ensemble offers a wide variety of family-oriented world dance shows that can be performed at libraries for children and adults. Two or four dancers in colorful and authentic costume present the dances along with an educational narrative and an opportunity for the audience to participate by learning and joining in on one or more simple folk dances.

See our list of Holiday Shows for some examples of shows that can be adapted for library presentations. Some special favorites for families and children at libraries are the Polynesian Luau program for the Summer, our Mexican Dance Fiesta for Cinco de Mayo or Mexican Independence Day, and our multicultural International Holidays show for December.

Our current standard rates for library programs are $225.00 for two dancers or $350.00 for four dancers for a 45-minute presentation.

Gypsy is sensitive to your programming needs; just let us know what you want and we can customize our library shows to fit a special holiday, subject or theme. Contact us for more information about booking Gypsy for a special family presentation at your library.

The Gypsy Folk Ensemble has had extensive experience working with families and children in library shows throughout the Southern California area for more than twenty-five years. Over that period, Gypsy has appeared in more than 400 public libraries and has presented over 800 culturally diverse library programs using folk dance for both education and entertainment.

In addition to serving Los Angeles city and county libraries, Gypsy has also presented programs in libraries in Ventura, Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties, Kern County, Orange County, San Bernardino and Riverside, and the San Diego area.

Summer Reading Program
Learning a folk dance at a library

In addition, each year we create a new presentation specially designed for the theme of the California Library Association's Summer Reading Program. Our program combines dance performances, music, story and active participation in dance to provide an educational experience and to stimulate children's interest in reading.
